Dam Run
How about spending an afternoon floating down the
Missouri River? Listen to the birds and watch cormorants fishing
for their supper at sunset. If you're looking for just a few hours
relaxing on the water, the Dam Run could be the answer.
A Dam Run starts at our store at 511 West
Dakota in Pierre. We will shuttle you to Oahe Dam, about seven miles
away. At the marina we get you settled in your boat and give you
instructions on proper handling of the canoe/kayak. After that you are
on your own to explore or just enjoy South Dakota's outdoors. Pull up on
one of the islands and see what you can see. Or bring your fishing gear
and see what you can catch. If bad weather comes up, we'll make sure
you're taken care of.
Your journey ends at a boat ramp by Discovery
Island, which is one block from our shop. Once you land your boats,
simply carry them up the ramp and leave them, we will pick them up
later. Yes, Pierre is that kind of place. We just ask that you bring
your life jacket and paddle back to the store. And take a few minutes to
reflect on the journey.
